| gamblers anonymous i am most lucky with keno slots usually ahead hundreds sometimes several thousand at the end of any given night but lately i’m up just enough keep me in the game mark’s a wizard at all sorts of poker he pays my way and later i play his way well we go together dine at Taj Mahal’s Bombay and we’ve been at this off and on for over 7 years now last night i blew a coupla hundred didn’t win dickshit my luck was down just like the time before the time before being just the other night with mark mark was hundreds ahead just like the other night and when we left we drove along the main in his little tonka canary yellow Xterra trackin’ toward the expressway the usa flag flailing from the antenna my mouth bobbin’ beneath his buckle to the beat of amerikan woman… let’s stop at our other lucky casino… i muffled got any money left … no but I bet you got plenty… i always give you good money to blow… and i always give you a good blow… yea but you are on a losin’ streak babe…give it up for a coupla weeks… i want to keep playin… oooo well keep playin' down there...have you ever thought that maybe you are a compulsive gambler… like you ain’t …i said and i left his lap … ...besides i call it a habitual relaxing habit i sit in front of that machine and think of nothing my mind is clear not a care in the world except workin’ that machine til it sings the national anthem til it’s spews it’s loaded coingut totally into my lap i don’t think about overdue bills don’t think about all of the work i’m behind in i don’t think about my dog terriers or what the neighbors think when they hump in between sun- rays in the front picture window nor do i think about friends enemies or you where the next meal is coming from the next drink the next high but JUST THINK one day when i hit it BIG i’ll lavish you with nice clothes 2 new cars chaperones a penthouse with servants and we’ll have charming friends that belong to big time yacht clubs and we can tour the world in our very own 50 ft Catamaran complete with inside pools built-in bars gaming tables bud houses hot slot machines and and and everything---- we ever dreamed of you are dreaming i’m not givin you another penny for .... …you always say that and i always say sure you will and you always say you won’t and i always say if i don’t get it from you i’ll get it from somebody else you know i always do you do always do but you really need to make a call to that gamblers anonymous place yea well you too but you and i will only end up down there again forgetting all about this bullshit conversation … we pulled into the spot painted 210 mark flopped on the futon picked up sundays paper i picked up the portable dialed 1-8-0-0-g-a-m-b-l-e-r --- some dude answers announces “gamblers anonymous we are here to help - may we help you?” o yea YES ... got any money? |
